Aristo Glossary

Medical terms explained in simple English.

Lactose

Lactose (milk sugar) is contained in numerous foods (milk, milk containing products etc.) and is used as a filler in the production of medicinal products. A specific enzyme is required to digest lactose, which many people do not have. Stomach pain, bloating and diarrhoea are possible consequences of consuming lactose despite an existing intolerance.
